“After leaving full time education at the age of eighteen I began my employment as an apprentice with The Travel House.
I thoroughly enjoyed the role and soon decided to pursue a career in the travel industry.

After completing my Apprenticeship I continued to develop my skills and knowledge and became an Assistant shopManager, then Shop Manager by the age of twenty one. During my time as Shop Manager I also took a course at Gorseinon College where I gained my assessor qualification. I was keen to put this into practice so took steps to set up a training departments at The Travel House
.

In 1998 The Travel House was bought by the Thomson Travel Group, I then became part of the training team for the Apprenticeship Department. I was responsible for the design and delivery of the Apprenticeship training as well as NVQ assessment and verification.

During the latter part of 2004 The Thomson Travel Group went through a large restructure and if I wanted to stay with the company I would need to relocate to the Thomson head office in Coventry. I decided against this move and was made redundant, leaving the company in June 2005.

In April 2005 we took the decision to set up Vocations Ltd and began trading in the July. I am fortunate to work with a good friend and colleague, Kate Bowen, and together over the past six years through our commitment and dedication we have created a successful training provider.”
